Release with Intention: Lessons from the Sea
Olivia and I had the opportunity to join the Whitby Lobster Hatchery team at Runswick Bay to help release 1,000 juvenile lobsters into the wild. It was a moment of quiet awe, watching these tiny creatures swim off into the sea, knowing that without this intervention, fewer than 1% would survive.
Before the release, seawater was added to their tubs to help them acclimatise. Volunteers guided us through the process slowly, gently. Olivia was handed a jug of baby lobsters and shown how to release them into the tidal pools. It was beautiful, deliberate, and deeply symbolic.
And it got me thinking:
This is exactly how I approach digital strategy at KOG Digital.
I don’t throw ideas into the world and hope they stick.
I nurture them. We create the right conditions.
I guide our clients, women-led, neurodivergent, soulful businesses, through the process of building rhythm, clarity, and confidence before they go live.
Later, one of the aquarists stayed behind to go rockpooling with Olivia, who’s studying IGCSE Marine Science. They spotted velvet crabs, squat lobsters, anemones, and a shared moment of curiosity and mentorship. That’s the kind of connection I strive for in my work:
Generous, Grounded, and Growth-Oriented.
So yes, lobster release day was about conservation. But it was also about strategy, mentorship, and the power of intentional release.
Whether you’re launching a brand, refining your voice, or finding your rhythm online, remember: the sea rewards those who prepare.
Let’s build something that lasts.
