SEO & AI-Ready Optimisation for Renard & Fable’s Squarespace Website
Following the successful completion of the Rocky’s Pet Products Shopify website, Antonia returned to collaborate with me on her second venture, Renard & Fable, a boutique graphic design studio based in Wakefield. While the site already showcased her creative vision with strong visual design, she recognised the need for a strategic overhaul to transform it into a high-performing client acquisition tool.
With the rise of AI-powered search models like Google Gemini, visibility online is no longer just about ranking on page one; it’s about being the definitive, credible answer that AI synthesises and presents to users. Antonia wanted Renard & Fable to stand out in this new landscape, especially to attract local clients organically. My role was to future-proof the Squarespace site with a comprehensive digital optimisation strategy spanning on-page, technical, local, and structured SEO.
What I Delivered for Renard & Fable:
Homepage Content Revision & Keyword Integration
I refined the homepage copy to strategically incorporate primary and secondary keywords such as “Graphic Designer Wakefield” and “Logo Design Wakefield,” aligning with Renard & Fable’s core offerings and local audience. The content was carefully revised to maintain its natural tone and visual storytelling while improving relevance for both search engines and AI models. A clear heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) was implemented to support logical flow and readability.
Page Title & Meta Description Optimisation
I crafted concise, engaging page titles and meta descriptions for all nine core pages, ensuring each was within character limits and included relevant keywords and location-based terms. This improved click-through rates and enhanced the site’s suitability for AI-generated summaries.
Internal Linking & URL Structure Enhancement
A robust internal linking system was established using descriptive anchor text to connect related services and blog content, improving both user navigation and crawlability. I also reviewed and refined URL slugs across key pages and posts to ensure they were clean, consistent, and keyword-rich.
Crawlability & Indexability Checks
I conducted a thorough review of the Squarespace robots.txt file to confirm that no critical pages were inadvertently blocked. Using Google Search Console, I identified and resolved any 404 errors, implementing 301 redirects to preserve SEO equity and ensure a smooth user experience.
Structured Data (Schema Markup) Implementation
Upon upgrading to the Squarespace Core Plan, I implemented LocalBusiness schema markup on the homepage and contact pages using JSON-LD format. This included detailed business information such as name, address, phone number, operating hours, and services—critical for AI models like Gemini to accurately cite and present Renard & Fable in search results. I also applied Service Schema to eight individual service pages, clearly articulating offerings and target areas. All schema markup was validated using Google’s Rich Results Test tool to ensure correctness and eligibility for enhanced search features.
Strategic Outcome
This second collaboration with Antonia built on the trust and success of our previous project, allowing us to move swiftly and strategically. The Renard & Fable website now reflects not only her creative excellence but also the technical precision required to be discoverable, credible, and competitive in the age of conversational search. With improved local visibility, enhanced structure, and AI-aligned content, Renard & Fable is now equipped to attract more clients organically in Wakefield and beyond.
